Kellen J. Adams | Superintendent | Leavenworth USD 453

A distinguished educator and administrator, Kellen J. Adams has recently been selected to serve as the superintendent of schools at Leavenworth USD 453. Additionally the owner of Midwest Timing and Results LLC, a full-scale track and cross-country timing company, since 2014, he previously excelled as the superintendent of Chanute USD 413 in Kansas from 2019 to 2023. In his role as a superintendent, he has supervised 1,900 students and 400 staff members between five instructional centers. He is responsible for managing personnel, budgeting, meetings, and collaboration with the board of education and other districts. As the owner of Midwest Timing and Results LLC, Mr. Adams and his team provide timing services for high schools, middle schools and colleges for their cross country and track needs in addition to administering the full results of each event. Additionally, he has been active as an adjunct instructor in the Building Leadership Program at Fort Hays State University since 2009, a professor of practice at the Kansas State University College of Education since 2021, and an adjunct instructor at the Pittsburgh State University College of Education since 2022.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Adams garnered experience as an assistant superintendent of business and operations of El Dorado Public Schools USD 490 from 2016 to 2019 and as principal and assistant superintendent of Pre-K-for Logan Unified School District 326 from 2013 to 2016. In addition, he previously flourished at Hays Middle School USD 489 as a volleyball coach, a track and field coach and a middle school mathematics and technology teacher from 2008 to 2013. Dr. Adams attributes his professional success to hard work and being in the right place at the right time.

To remain abreast of his field, Mr. Adams maintains affiliation with the American Association of School Administrators, the United School Administrators of Kansas, the Kansas State High School Activities Association, the Chanute Chamber of Commerce and the Kansas School Superintendents’ Association, for which he serves as a region III representative. He is also involved with the Chanute Rotary Club, the Chanute Regional Development Authority as treasurer of the board of directors and Leadership Kansas as a board member.

In preparation for his career, Mr. Adams matriculated at Fort Hays State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in secondary education in 2007 and a Master of Science in educational administration in 2011. Later, he attained a Doctor of Education in educational leadership from Kansas State University in 2018, as well as certifications for building leadership and district leadership and teaching history, mathematics and business. Looking ahead, Mr. Adams intends to remain in his district before advancing to a higher leadership position within the state while also focusing on his publishing endeavors and building upon his business.
